Next Steps

Looking back at my goals,  I was able to learn more about wildlife trafficking and properties of different materials. I also created CAD models for the camera mount project. While I did not work in a conventional office because I was remote this summer, I still learned to manage my time effectively, develop as a leader by taking point on some team meetings, and communicate with coworkers. Throughout the summer, I learned how to better express engineering ideas and the engineering process with non-engineers.

The women in STEM that I had the honor of working with were very supportive and inspired me to continue to encourage and support other women in the future.

This summer, I became much more skilled with both Fusion360 and SolidWorks. I had the rare opportunity to combine my work with a cause that I am passionate about. I also became more aware of how many engineering abilities are needed for every conservation project (CAD, electrical engineering, etc) and realized that I do not yet have some of these skills. In the future, I plan to continue using engineering to create technology with a positive impact, and my next steps are to continue learning and developing my engineering skills.
